Booths and Branding…

I often see vendors who have a great product with great pricing lose out on sales due to poor branding. Unfortunately, it’s not just good enough to to have a great product and branding can elevate your work and your sales.

Branding your business can be a bit overwhelming. From logos, to colors, to style and even something as simple as packaging are all a part of building your brand. For our vendors you also have a permanent space, aka your booth, to plan.

The easiest place to start is to find your style! If you already have a product created this can help determine where you go from there. I like to look at the whole picture though. So yes, I make candles, but what is my style? For me, I like a very clean, modern look. It helps keep everything simple and adds an element of luxury. Knowing that I am going for a modern, clean look helps me choose colors, shelving, paint, and even fonts for my logo. If you’re leaning toward a farmhouse decor, you could choose elements of whites and natural pastels with wood, iron and a mixture of greenery. I’ll dive into this in a future blog. I do think your style sets your brand and will especially help you design your booth. It’s like designing a tiny store!

The goal of your booth should be to curate a permanent space that highlights your product. Every vendor is going to have a different vision and that is part of the beauty of Twigg & Co. So my first suggestion and a very inexpensive choice is to use paint. Many vendors who move into their booths keep it exactly as it was for the previous vendor. It’s very rare that the previous vendors created the perfect space for your product. When using colors your want to keep them cohesive through out space. This includes your walls, logos, shelving, and even your packaging. When choosing colors use something that highlights your product versus blending in or distracting from. Also, remember you’re treating this like a permanent space so you want to have permanent fixtures, and a backing that works for your products.

Next, let’s get a great logo. A great resource that we use all the time is Canva. This is a website for design. It’s the perfect spot for designing a logo. You can change colors, font and it’s so easy to use. You want to make sure that your logo is eye catching, matches your style and is easy to read. I see a lot of vendors choose a really pretty script as a font but they can be difficult to read.

Imagine using your logo for various items. It’s not just a sign. This script font would be difficult to read on a tag.

Ok, so we’ve got style, our booth and a logo. Now, we need packaging. Whether it’s a candle vessel, jewelry display cards, or the tags you add your labels on professional packaging matters. This is the opportunity to elevate your business and make it professional. Take that great logo and style you’ve worked and choose something that compliments it. If you keep your booth space, logo and packaging to a few simple color this will elevate the space and make it more professional and appealing to customer. Creating a well branded business builds a trust with your customers and helps increase your sales. Check out these samples below. Which one attracts you as a customer?

Branding your business isn’t something that happens over night and it evolves over time. I rebranded my booth and I spent a couple of months planning. I made Pinterest boards of companies that I liked and then use my favorite elements. I ordered tags and reordered tags to get them just right. I searched around for just the right vessel for each of my products. Many of them I was happy with but, I am still reworking some to get them to a better spot.

I challenge you to take a look at your branding. What are some ways that you can improve it? It may just start with an easy coat of paint.
